She's able to change so quickly because she's reincarnated. She's lived 18 years normally, so she actually went through that hell when she was mentally '28'-'33'. It's still probably really traumatic, since even hardened soldiers have problems with PTSD. But she isn't a actual child, so the effects should be less.
