Hataraku Maou-sama! - Vol. 16 Ch. 83

Wait what? Did I miss something, or did she just bend to their demands over an empty village and some wheat?

Just wheat and an empty village, you say...?
For you they are nothing, but for her they are everything.
That's maybe a bit of a stretch, but it certainly not of so little value for her that she could let them go.
Do you want to know why? Read the LN or wait for more chapters before giving your judgement.
Also, that weakness is precious, very much so even if it was not wanted and only an hindrance.
Why, you ask?

Because she is a Hero.

Thankyou for translating!!
The comment section is delicious as usual. I should come back here tommorow xD

In all fairness they're the one memento she has of her (presumed dead) dad.
And Maou gets all "fucking seriously?" on her later on, so it's at least acknowledged to be pretty dumb.

Ntr usual blackmailing plot usually used is less retarded than this ahhay xd

LN reader here, I suppose the manga cant convey her inner thought well.

During the demon war, her drive to fight was because the demons who burned her village and that her father "apparently" died in the chaos. she is still very pure at heart. (when asked what Emila will do after the war, she intends to go back to her village to restore her father's fields)

Now with the war over and that finding out the demons were not the true villain, her foundation is shaken to her very core and she often second-guesses her feelings of animosity to the demons.

Now seeing the fields living strong, she can't bear to see them destroyed again. Also aside from the afro angel and bald bishop, there are other humans present. she is unable to raise her blade against the people she once fought for and also that her blade is a sentient toddler so imagine Alas-ramus chan with PTSD having blood all over her...
