Hawkwood - Vol. 6 Ch. 32 - The Mercenary's Scheme

Me:*suffers PTSD when heavy troops running towards enemy then get exhausted in Total War games*

@Arkos: Oh I member. Me as Vanilla noob: "Wa get there as fast as possible.". As experienced Europa Barbarorum player: "Keep calm and wait for it."

When you made an awesome 3D model with great lighting and the rendering takes forever.

They're the bait? No way Hawkwood would willingly give free armor and sweet talk unless there's a catch.

Rule of War: Running towards the enemy is a good way to give your enemy a tired opponent.

@Rosen_Ritter You're technically correct, but in warfare, using another force as bait is not always the same thing as abandoning them to die. Hawkwood is ruthless, but he's not stupid: they can't recover all the knights if those soldiers die off (not enough manpower to carry them back). What's more, that armor they gave the English footmen is really expensive, to the point where the vast majority of mercenary companies could never afford even one suit; Hawkwood would never simply throw it away like this as part of a pre-determined plan.

You can't increase a tank's armor heedlessly without upgrading the engine as well.
