Heresy - Ch. 26 - Ferocious Spider

Well i hope there are not some betrayed or some shit because some drop item from dead monster.

@4V29LN0n

It's been more or less established that the old man is a coward, so while he may have been robbed in the past it's unlikely that they would have ever had the need to cheat or conspire against him.

Wonder how things will go now that they know that Little Mo can bring the smackdown.

Will they take more risk with their missions?

He didn't enter inner sect because he was plot-retarded for a bit instead of being actually weak

I was reading Gu Master/Reverend Insanity novel and enjoyed the world building a lot. Kinda disappointing to learn from this manhwa and others, that it turns out cultivation novels share similar world and cultivation rules. I still recommend Gu Master though, the first book, around 200 chapters, was very entertaining.

I'm surprised he didn't say something like "I killed it myself so I get all the shares" just to jab at that guy who questions mc's equal share.

Although I know Mo is strong and has an incredibly powerful+knowledgeable spirit advisor, but I wish the author made that just a bit harder, or at least used a couple more pages for it. Guess he really wanted to get it out of the way and show off Mo’s strength, which isn’t really a bad thing. Art epic as always.

Thanks for the TLs and chaps!

I accept this outcome (not that me nothing doing it would change anything XD), easy first battle is a trope i can accept more so as Mo needed a victory because of recent events, but i hope he next huddles he shows gradual growth not just pull something from somewhere and win all. Even so, i did feel that spider might have been a little too overhyped by everyone.

@4V29LN0n
he is far too weak to know
only the first 3 know it more or less, even the patriarch do not know all

it's a bit like politics, the guy who distributes the flyers in the street, do not know that the candidate to the elections touched bribes

The place wont be safe for long? Isnt it safer now that it was one minuto ago? xD

@Tearsax

Probably created a power vacuum, and also they now have a lot of cultivation materials (both the spider and the ice crystals it was hoarding). A fraction of which was already going to be enough to pay their dues for two months.

@alacaelum
@Wreavant

Honestly with the spirit on his shoulder telling him the weaknesses of the spider, its tactics and and how to deal with it, Mo's fight was a lot simpler than it would be for most.

See it like Dark Soul 3's first 'mini boss' Iudex Gundyr, a relatively difficult beginner fight unless you know its patterns, its parry window. Or even simpler: How easy it is to burn through him with sheer aggression.

@Mangareader Hmmm that is a really nice idea, i didn't think of that, it is a good excuse for opness that doesn't sound stupid and gives space for many nice possibilities.

I mean even if the ghost companion is/was strong time has passed there are differences from his time, the sect may be weaker than it was but the world still ruthless and constantly adapting, so even he can make mistakes (possibly, i hope for that), this means that Mo strength will be much more subtle and well constructed.

Really nice train of thought friend.

Just curious, the elder sister lance showed in this chapter is the dagger that she has on her waist isn't it?

@MangaReader that comparison actually really helps to quantify things lol, good point. I also sorta forgot that his other teammates are also outer-court, so there’s no reason Mo can’t be stronger than them. Think I forgot because of how experienced they were portrayed (which is true). Thanks for sharing :)

@4V29LN0n They're similar because they all stem from Chinese philosophical concepts (mainly Taoism.) It's just part of the genre, but that doesn't mean they can't divert quite a bit from the "general formula" so to speak, like Cultivation Chat Group that is a very modern take on cultivation, and Library of Heaven's Path that focuses more on a teaching aspect (both are pretty funny.)
Most of the time Xianxia stories are more focused on Taoism, so if you want something more non-standard you could look up Xuanhuan stories which are similar but go more into fantasy territory. Coiling Dragon is a pretty popular Xuanhuan novel if you're interested. I read it a really long time ago so I can't really remember how different it was from standard cultivation novels though.

I personally think it's interesting that the core concepts can be found in most cultivation novels. It's kind of like the Fantasy genre, even if dwarves and elves can feel a bit cliché after all these years it's not like it's inherently bad, and most people at least try to put some personal spin on the setting.

Honestly, Reverend Insanity's system pretty unique with the Gu worm cultivation already and then there's a lot of other unique points, like the Ren Zu mythology, villainous MC and time traveling, so maybe you're just disappointed that other stories are too standard? You've set a pretty high bar to compare with to be honest.

@Arc yea lol. That's a very very high bar. The other 1000+ novels in this genre are just flooded with arrogant young masters and random jerks with less than 2 brain cells that it feels unnatural to see such reasonable teammates in this manga. No matter how much sense it makes for the characters to act the way they do, I just can't help but expect some senseless backstabbing.
