Basically, the first round's losers go to loser's brackets and fight each other. Then those who win move on to second round, where they fight the winners' bracket's losing players. And so on, so on, until final players from both brackets fight.

But they claimed to be in a group stage to qualify for top 12 for "the real tournament". It'd be really weird to call something a group stage but then let there be a loser's bracket for it.

Anyway, I loved the first half of the chapter. No idea what's coming next though.

I think Okayama Ken was one of the kids in the night gaming group that Hidaka got involved with. Not going to go look back to double-check though.
