Higanjima - Vol. 26 Ch. 255 - Strenuous Effort

Alright, gather up, let's talk about writting fighting scenes.

Y'know what's bad? Bad is when you estabilish that a character has a body that is hard to cut, but the protagonist cuts him anyway because he's trying really hard, you guys!

Now, how to make that part of the plot relevant to the fight scene.

"Wow, I almost forgot how much faster he's with that axe! - Wait. Let me carefully check his moves - Woah! That was close, but yes, I get it! He's putting his whole weight on the swings and let that heavy axe carry him, making his swings that much stronger and faster.

I was so focused on surviving last time, but that's what I did, right? I can't cut him alone, but if I add my strenght with his inertia against my blade, I can cut him. I just have to expose myself to his strike, dodge it, and hit him...."

This set up also opens up for Akira to taunt him and throw more empty bravado around, since that seems like an essential part of his character.

Also, yes, this is pretty much what happened last time, except I'm adding a description making the fight itself seems more thought out rather than Akira's "Well, I'm going to die, last strike, time to put all I have in it" from that chapter in the cliff.

And this is how you write fighting scenes. Make your characters think about the fight and how they're applying their observations to their strategy.

Don't just go "I'M GIVING MY 110% THIS TIME". That's lazy.

Chapters without someone peeing themselves: 68

We all know Bronogami will die very soon. It's even stated in the Fire Emblem weapon triangle law, swords beats axes every time.

I remember the last time someone tried fighting with an axe against a guy with a sword.
