Alternatively, if he's now in a separate timeline and was on Earth Prime but is now on Earth 2, then Miyu is doing just fine back on Earth Prime (although he isn't there. but maybe his 15-year-old self is now in his old-man body. Boy would that suck).

I made a small but crucial omission in the translation on page 21. I didn't realize it until I read the comments here and on r/manga about how Amano shut down Sachiko and her friend. Under the text bubble that says "Ah", the raw had "tsuiguchini" or "I said it unconsciously." So it wasn't intentional. Amano wasn't slamming on Sachiko. It was just Amano being the same sad sack Amano saying the wrong thing at the wrong time... Sorry for the confusion.
