ppl who have finished the raws: did the author ever explain their past? from bits and pieces it seems like the brother has been estranged from the family for a long time but he has fond memories of his mother. why did umaru move in with him? from this chapter its clear that she did not know him at all and did not want to move in.

I think I read somewhere that both of them were the result of an affair that their mother had with their father who was the head of a corporation. Apparently they didn't live with him at first but then the mother died and somehow the brother lost some of his memories so Umaru went to live with her father as a legitimate heir. Seems like she didn't want to be the new head so she went to go live with her brother(which probably explains why she was so good at school as she was raised to take over the company). I've seen some people also claim that the brother was supposed to be engaged to his chief prior to his memory loss which is why she hired him and boomer. This all seems like speculation to me though.

@cromat they did explain a little in anime... both of them have lived in same apartement when their mom died. their father so busy that rarely have been seen, it was until taihei graduated from high school. just like kanau and hikari right now
their mom died at young age when her brother is still in elementary while umaru still so young that she cant remember anything about her mother while taihei only remember a few from his past. when taihei graduated he actually offered a job by his father, but he rejected. Umaru still live in that apartement with his father until graduated from middle school then sent off to her brother apartement by her father bcoz her brother can maintain her grade and start in school that same as taihei
