Hiru to Yoru no Oishii Jikan

It's strange how I've come to move towards shoujo and josei with time, but those are the genres which consistently nail the kind of characters I like. This is another one which successfully does so.

@Pokari Fear the bunny drops.

@Orange_Orange: #forevertraumatized

(But seriously, I have come to avoid a lot of "family-like" heartwarming stories between surrogate-father-and-young-daughter, that set off any alarums whatsoever, at the very least on the shounen/seinen side of the tracks, because I'm just... so tired, of being betrayed every one time out of three (or so it seems). It's bothersome, because otherwise that's just the sort of stuff that I like... ;-; )

But this one... I would just think it's a bit of a shame, if it went the path of romance (instead of being seriously actively horrified and/or incensed). Like, if it goes down the path of romance, it would seem to naturally become a somewhat sadder, more inherently cynical, and somewhat less special story, it would seem to me. (I'm not sure if I'm capable of communicating what I mean very effectively in this case...?)

So far I really like this manga. It reminds me a little of Ane Naru Mono, although the female leads are totally different.

Arghhhh, cute fluffy kids like Mahiru hit me right in the heart. I want to spoil him and see him grow up happy and healthy. I'm glad he has some good friends around him. It would be too sad if he had a neglectful father and no friends as well.

The father is super weird, how can he not know his own son is so dependable.
It's like he really ignore everything his son doing.
And i bet why the author won't eat home cooked food is related with her trauma.
At this point of the story, i only felt annoyed by her and can't related with her.
At least it's make me curious about her trauma,
but if the story not give any reveal and keep it "super secret" my reading reaction will only be annoyed curiosity.

IMO, Her rejection is only mixed the slice of life enjoyment of this series.
it become bitter slice i guess.

I always like small scale stories but intense interaction between main characters and this manga has that in spades. Interesting characters, great build-up and heart-touching. So eager for more!

@nerufu re-read chapt 7

chapt 7 page 10-11 show what happens in her mind when she tries to eat, she pictures her mum bowing to her bully's mum and then crying and yelling at her for something she should not be blamed for and it pains her

@Bored_Pray hell no. She'd die of starvation and malnutrition and organ failure. Coffee causes high production of stomach acid, destroying the stomach lining, which isn't being mitigated by solid food cause this dumb bitch doesn't eat anything.

since coffee is functionally identical to water in that there is 0 calories, she'd die of starvation in 3 weeks.
