So this basically disproves the whole “karma” thing this antagonist is talking about. The connection between the prime minister and his guardian spirit is generally positive, but it was somewhat of an accident with unintended consequences.

But with the villain forcing himself to act as karmic retribution, it’s not actually karma but is the villain being irritated at them being happy. I guess that’s karma in a somewhat cosmic/narrative sense, but just makes no sense.
