If second cousins is far enough removed feels like a cultural thing. My family on my mother's side is very close, where second cousins are part of my close family. But my family on my father's side I don't even know if I have second cousins, and in my father's home country it is completely legal to marry your first cousin.

Though I feel like if we start getting the feeling we have to justify it, like with family tree charts, it's a bit too close imo.
