Actually they went for college by taking foundational classes to skip 12th grade, so no their parents didn't go with there. It does feel sudden and out of nowhere, but all I'm saying is that it happens. Are you from the US or anywhere in the West? Maybe it's the different cultures that makes this seem a bit more improbable.
