Honzuki no Gekokujou ~Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen~ Dai 1-bu 「Hon ga Nai nara Tsukureba Ii!」 - Vol. 5 Ch. 24 - Into Winter

@GoblinGuy According to the other merchant girl that had it, it's magical energy that some people are born with but don't know how to control. Her little magic reactor is over-generating energy and she doesn't know how to channel it out of her body, so they are trying to earn money to hire someone to teacher her how to do it.

@werewolf914 She's not quite at "Subaru constantly getting brutally slaughtered each time he comes back to life" levels of Isekai suffering yet.

@Equilibrium

It's not that the plot requires it, it's because she was supposed to be dead a long time ago. That body already died once and Maine's soul only took over. If nothing gets done, that body will die again right away. Only Maine's motivations and desire keep the illness in check. The moment she has doubts, the control weakens.

@GoblinGuy
The illness can be kept in check by personal motivations. In Maine's case, she wants to make books, and as long as she works towards that goal, her illness can be kept in check. That's why Lutz tried to remind Maine of that, so that Maine can remember her motivations and snap back. Unfortunately, this time the pressure from the thing is too much, and she can't keep it in anymore. She'll be saved, but at a high price.

This illness is basically having too much magic in a small container. People don't know what this is because knowledge of magic is controlled and manipulated by nobles, and you can only use magic if you're a noble. Maine will one day found a way to release her magic without relying on nobles and even use magic without tools.

God damn, I knew it was coming, but it still hits hard to see it in picture compared to text... Can't wait for the anime.

Poor Myne got collapsed again, poor Lutz got traumatized again, and poor Beno got lost his profit

And so, Maine dies. The end.

Or at the very least, that is what happens in my imagination if the story stops getting translated like the WN/LN.

Thank you for the translation. Please keep doing it. Don't kill Maine ;_;.

Will power helps with her sickness, but only to a certain limit, pass that limit and don't matter how much will power you have, you simply die.

Benno should help pay to cure myne first and let her and her family pay it later. no time limit

I stopped reading the novel because they were dragging out the obvious
YER A WIZZERD, MYNE!
reveal. Early in the story, it was clear, but nope, it's still a forced mystery in a world where the supernatural exists in a verifiable way.

So, I've heard that her condition is due to her having too much magical energy in her body that can't be used. How much longer until the part of the story where she can learn to control it for good?

@alonerone
In the thread of last chapter they said here that Benno doesn't have enough money to pay for her as (here) his company is still in the growing phase. And here that her only option would be selling herself as a slave to the nobles, apparently.

Ohh, my boy Lutz. Breaks my heart seeing him like that.

Man, I miss having this as a weekly source of entertainment. But, the original translator of the WN dropped it some time ago.

@Ringz

If you're really interested, the first like a hundred or so chapters of the web novel are of just, some of the highest quality translated content I can think of. It was a genuine delight being able to follow that story, getting a new chapter every Monday.

As far as how long till her devouring problem is fixed, Hmm. . . . Her confrontation with Lutz over her past life / memories is like chapter 35 I think? Around there at least. This isn't that long after, so it should be around there. I want to say her devouring problem was """fixed"'" by at least ch 80. So maybe 10~ish manga chapters? Could be more, could be less.

was wondering.. maybe she is supposed to be OP chara but her body she's residing in is too weak.. thus mana consuming happens alot..

Of all the isekai MCs out there she's the one that could use the "status window" the most! But I'm glad there isn't one 😴
