If I remember correctly, children in the orphanage are all treated as disposable workers for any blue robes aiming to acquire some man power (gray robe priests). Rather than commoner common sense, they’re urged to learn noble/church common sense, since nobody in society supports them other than this way of life.

As for the priestesses, it’s they’re clearly treated as concubines to fawn over their priest, or their guests...

That aside, like how Lutz’s common sense says to gather in the forest every day to look for firewood or anything edible, Gil’s common sense is that his needs, or living conditions should have been provided for, and/or improved. Mine’s a very big exception tho.

But I think the previous orphanage head was a priestess. She might have put her room in the boy’s dormitory and had fun with them... Or she might have been sneaking out at night to play with nobles (men)... Or she was forcefully taken by nobles (men). I can’t remember, but it was something like that. Since Myne sleeps at home, she’s fine. The main thing I know is that Lutz saw a woman leaving through what he thought was a backdoor.

@Morsealworth Honestly though, living as a commoner in our modern world is realistically more close to the nobles of a world like this than the commoners. Like, she has no self importance or 'noble etiquette' strictly speaking, but she also has so much knowledge of various things that really compensates in a big way.
