Considering the series has a known ending point that puts this about halfway through, I'm not sure if she's going to fail to convey her feelings for him here and have to try again later or get her ship sunk ahead of time. so the remaining chapters can resolve the others.

I knew from the start I was going to have a salty time, with Hoshino being the protagonist as well as the last to realize she has feelings for Kobayakawa, or in manga terms, no one else ever had any chance. Still, Kanon is such a well written, compelling character, it's a real shame she was "wasted" being harem girl number three rather than being given the spotlight as well as more time to shine. The kind of character that makes me think that if she had an spinoff, it'd be more successful than the original story

It would have been more interesting if Kanou stayed as a friend. Pretty sure this is just used as a device to compel Matsukata and I'll accept it as such.
