Good thing they ended this short, author didn't know what he was getting into i believe. This had huge potential to be something greater. Ending wasn't half bad, thought it was stupid for her to stay behind praying for others when the book said that the dead only got salvation when their own children prayed for them.
It's not like it wasn't foreshadowed. There were several hints that Yue was happier in Hell than in the real world and there was a mention of "ascets" earlier, which is probably what she became.
I do agree that the ending feels a bit rushed, though.
Maybe I just forgot if it was revealed before, but I still wonder who was the father of Terumi's baby.
I am glad they are back.. I am not Buddhist as well.. Even in my belief is also told about how important a prayer is.. Still um.. Reading this can't help me to not think how death can be so scary!
The ending actually doesn't feel too rushed up until this chapter. I feel like just even one more chapter, and the pacing would have been fine. One of the better examples of an "axed" ending I've seen.
