Man, the dad's backstory broke my heart. While it's not much consolation, at least he dealt with his pain by avoiding Mao instead of physical/verbal abuse. His feelings are understandable, at least.

And I figured the mom was an asshole but damn. Doesn't matter how "lonely" she was, there's no excuse for cheating. What a mess. Also no forgiveness for NTRing a childhood friend

That was a preety sad backstory. I do emphatize with the dad. That said even if I can understand his actions it doesn't mean I have to like them. Sepperating himself from Mao was probably the least hurtful thing he could do in that state of mind. But the way he went about it isn't fine and it seriously hurt her.

I'm by no means taking sides, actually I'm angry at both of them and whatever they had doesn't erase what they did to the innocent Mao

@DepthSailor ppl just want to project there own problems on characters, that why anytime a woman does something shitty to a guy in manga the comments are acting like their world is ending because of it. Super depressing that people can't realize if there feeling so strongly its because the writer has made a good choice that evokes this feeling in them. I think this is because most manga readers are teens and people who have limited romantic experience. Sorry for commenting on a 6month old comment but I've been thinkin about how abhorrent people act in comment sections on this site and all other manga websites lol : )
