I don't understand what was the point of having Adamant (or Phos now) to pray If suddenly now they don't want to disappear.

The objective is nothingness, they are still working towards this objective.
Because Adamant was unable to pray again and ended broke now the hope is for Phos to reach nirvana and become able to pray for them, to make them disappear. But, even if their plan works (all of Aechmean "manipulations" was just him trying to find something to pray for the Lunarians), will Phos realize their wish and pray? It may refuse, because it doesn't want to give peace to them of for other reason that appears in the meantime, just like what happened with adamant.

The Lunarians are really, REALLY doing the dirty trick here. By turning gems-especiallt Adamant into fellow Lunarians they essentially made their problems a shared one.

Can't wait to see Phos 'eating' gems from the Shore of Beginnings and transform into a Titan...

do you guys think we could get an innocent phos back? The gem to lunarian machine restores broken gems as lunarians, and I think some of phos’s pieces are up on the moon so I think it’s technically possible but I honestly have no idea on how likely it would be for that to happen.

The Lunarians are really, REALLY doing the dirty trick here.

I don't think it's tricky, because they only started that "war" because Adamant refused to pray.
Adamant created the problem, because he became attached to the gems.

Remember, all those gems where lost. All those gems where "killed", but because they made an agreement with Phos they went beyond their capabilities to create that solution to recover their minds from death (in a way Phos give the Lunarians the "job" it had promised to Cinnabar).
The didn't trick anyone, they just kept their word. Unfortunately Phos couldn't made Adamant pray, and ended breaking him. Fortunately with that hew technology they developed they could recover his mind to help turn Phos into their savior.

Things just didn't went smooth as everyone would had wished.

They still want to disappear, so Aechmea makes Phos to acquire this power cause Adamant didn't function properly. Process of transformation gems to lunarians mentioned couple of times since the moment when Cairngorm offered this idea, if i'm not wrong moon gems talked about this possibility in one of the chapters. Yes, it was quite surprise they actually made this machine and unexpected offer to earth gems, but it's wasn't out of nowhere. And it makes sense, why not? It's not like earth life was something gems want to keep at all costs. Lunarians offer them peaceful life with Adamant and restored old gems after all.

What if Phos FAILS?

They have nothing to loose anyway. Phos as prayer is at least the possibility that actually could work unlike Adamant. Even if he fails, what can he do? At the very least Aechmea takes Adamant's eye fron Phos and will looking for new way to make a prayer.

I completely reject the budhist BS mumbo-jumbo the lunarians brought to the plot.

Come on, before all this shit, the reality was all about conscious humanoid gems beings trying to live their lives.

Also there are the Admirabilis, that we already know that they are reproducing again in the seas after the scape of ventricosus, without to give a crap about what is happening in the moon.

No fate, no cycle, no destiny, no sin, no shit.

Just common beings trying to live free day after day. Phos should take the role of Adamant and raise new gems, forgeting all that.

So, after those 10 thousand years of being alone, maybe Phos will become human and actually pray for the others. That, OR he will become a new Adamant and bug all over again with the new gems that appear on the beach cliffs, meeting the new Sea King and all that yada yada, thus repeating the never ending cycle of death (fail) and rebirth.

But until we get there, here's what we will do:
