Honestly, it seems like he's concerned but can't express it properly cause he doesn't know how to be nice. But if he was genuinely mean spirited he could have just as easily dropped the drama bomb right there and then in front of everyone when the opportunity presented itself. He's got a point; if it's supposed to be a secret and then they go and do that where anyone could see them they're gonna get screwed over. If anything, they're lucky it's him that saw because he already demonstrated that he isn't willing to reveal it if they aren't wiling to tell people themselves.
