Won't get into it, but a translators observations ain't much to go off of especially when they say "x never said x directly". Especially when it doesn't take into account their own biases, and saying a gay man wants to be female to get with a guy is pretty homophobic. A gay man ain't gonna wish to be female just to get with a guy they like. A gay man isn't gonna dress, act or live as a woman just to get with a guy. That isn't how any of this works.

Not to mention the erasure and censorship of trans people in Japanese media is rampant. That's why the majority of people sluff off the translators thoughts, trans people don't need to outright declare they are trans , and especially in Japanese culture won't, because of censorship. They will censor it because it isn't as socially acceptable.
