Hyakumanjou Labyrinth - Vol. 1 Ch. 11

Your....your own dad ....what?I hate her a liiiiitle less but yeah, damn

Wait, page 20, why did Youko tell Reika that she didn't want to see her anymore?

@AgentKuga Reika did something super risky again and hurt herself falling. She dreamt of the past while disoriented from the concussion, and Youko snapped her back to reality.

By letting them stay together but being unable to keep her out of trouble, Youko would only feel responsible for Reika getting hurt. At least if she was alone, Reika would have a chance to take charge and take care of herself.

Got nothing to do with the childhood friend though, Reika's just misunderstanding.

@cryum

No, it has everything to do with the childhood friend. Remember that in the flashback "she's always covered in bruises" and that's because Rina was the one who used to have to try to keep Reika alive, to the point she often hurt herself doing so. That's the real reason Rina left. Reika's utter recklessness is a burden for people who actually care for her like Youko and Rina before her. It's just that Youko is obviously older and more mature, so she can explain WHY she doesn't want to stay around Reika anymore. The reason Reika suddenly remembered Rina's blanked-out face is because she finally understood what happened all those years ago.

Ooh I realized one more thing:
Chapter 6 page 8, Youko talks about Reika showering with her clothes on. Makes sense now.

And she seems to have remembered something that happened before they were abducted to the shadow realm. I bet that alien took them to the realm actually.

@cryum

Reika wasn't actually abused by her parents, just neglected. That's the original cause for her recklessness. Dad's sexual attack was what turned her into the catatonic wreck Youko found in her room. The ending of this chapter is about how Reika's utter disregard for personal safety caused by parental neglect was what pushed away other people who actually cared for her.

@cryum

Oh, I see. Well, there's no indication of that, and the direction of the story points to her being an earlier (and less tough) Youko.
