Hyouge Mono - Vol. 12 Ch. 127 - Evening MY BEST FRIEND

The pieces have been falling apart one by one, and now Hideyoshi - the only thing holding this fragile unity - is closing in to death's door.

Friends are what the people on top of power need the most but also the hardest thing to have...

Flashback to chapter 33.
Good to see Hideyoshi is able to get at least some resemblance of peace though.

I for one felt more gutted hearing of the Ming envoy getting executed, they were the true heroes here

And we know what happened to those who sided with the Toyotomi after Hideyoshi's death.

I was hoping to see Daigo-ji in this. A few years ago, I stayed in a home right next to it and it was one of the first places I visited in Kyoto. It has a special place in my heart. Coming home or leaving, I could walk through its gates past a smaller temple and gardens partly designed by Hideyoshi. An old entrance has gates with big gold Toyotomi crests. The main temple dates to the Heian period and has the oldest wooden structure in Kyoto, miraculously surviving the fires of war. It's not the most popular temple in Kyoto being a bit away from the middle of the city but if you like places that are less busy, consider visiting!
