Hyouge Mono - Vol. 13 Ch. 134 - HELP ME

This chapter reminds me that Oribe is a veteran in politics.

I know how this story ends historically and so far it has been interesting to see this interpretation of events and figures.

@moel he reminds me of a senior civil servant. What’s genius is the use of the tea ceremony to intuit positions, the use of wares to grease palms without stooping so low as to discuss actual money, and the flexing of his cultural position to form allegiances

oh its gonna be "that" incident.

SPOILER:

You know, part of me was already apprehensive back during the last chapter about Oribe's opportunistic stance...my worst fears have now officially materialized, and
this is most likely what will come to bite him in the back 15 years down the line. I suspect Hidetada is neither one to forgive nor to forget

@ScarletLouse Rather than opportunism seems to me that its more like he could not reconcile himself with either Ieyasu or Mitsunari.
Wasn't it Ieyasu who makes him cut his stomach?

@norctune That seems about right. I guess what I had in mind was where he advocated to Ueda and Sakusuke to hold out for the best offer (so to speak) a chapter or two earlier.
I'm not aware of which of them historically gave the order, but my hunch is that the manga might portray Hidetada as a key influencer in the decision.
