It's not confusion.

It's a warning that it's yet another series with the trope that nobody likes of derpy MC and stuck up people who remain stuck up and trashy and you just want their faces punched in but they never get it.

Just because there's a semi-reasonable explaination for the trope doesn't make the trope not terrible.

It's a bit of a cliche 'bad ass war veteran who never had a real life goes to school' trope with 'evil nobles' and the like.

The art is not bad, the main character doesn't seem inept or naive; has ptsd or some shit though.

Overall, it isn't gonna knock your socks off but it's a decent read.
