Oho! So something eerie similar has happened in the past!
I clicked on a spoiler tag in the last chapter's discussions and was like "nope, that theory is just too far-fetched" but not that I've seen the diary entry, I can't get that theory out of my head. I mean, if this happens twice, it's probably not a coincidence. Also, who knows, it might've happened later. Again, and again.
Until we reach present day.
Great aunt seems like an awesome person. I hope they'll get some family time and our girl won't just spend her time burying her nose in old diaries. Great aunt seems to like the changes within her and seems to be delighted too see her. They're both so cute.

so the first spirit user to awaken gets the powers and the second one can only get them once the first one resonates with them? The clearly are sisters and that's why both can see spirits it's a question of why one manifested first and the other took so long to do so and if the younger sister in the story did it out of malicious intent or out of love.

I just find it too convenient that the first books(or one of the first ones) is the the one which has an eerily similar story. Too many coincidences, that library is not small and they don’t have google.
@AtalantaArthemis well you can just think that it isnt like that. To make the story move forward sometimes details like those are omited. she did technically spent several days reading. this is simply the relevant information.

@Blackeyebag hm, you’re saying it like she had a choice. Honestly, seeing how much she cared for her older sister and how they treated each other very well, she probably didn’t know how to do it beforehand. Nothing she could’ve done about that.

@aitak Yeah i know, i actually kinda touched when the little sister barged through the window. It's just... are they have no physical contact for 5 years since the awakening? Sorry i've read a lot of story that my suspicion just grow here and there.
While i'm at it, if the younger sister is the one who'll get awakening first, why cosette is the one who got the power? Isn't she kiera's older sister?

Oooooh the plot thickensss. The mystery is going really well.
Although a few people say that the past story is awfully similar with her predicament. I think, maybe this story is one of the reason why Cosette (and her backer, I think) had the confidence she could take over Keira's position in the first place. I mean, why does she can be THAT manipulative and confident that everything will work out when everyone knows that Keira is the heir for the spirit power for many years already.
Sure, Cosette may pretend to be kind to the maids and other nobles. But, even they're not all that stupid to believe her acting (nobles are all about pleasantries, mostly) and the tipping point must be when she can use her power before her sister. Ergo, Cosette had to know she will succeed obtaining the power before Keira from the beginning (or at least know she had odds in her favor at least).

So based on the spoilers I've read, (and they're really confusing):
I only searched for spoilers on why Cosette gets the Saint power although Kiera was the one who was supposed to get it, so I don't know a thing about how Kiera is supposed to defeat Cosette.
Oh and here are LN spoilers about ML and her relationship with her father: (the manhwa might change it tho):
The spoilers didn't talk much about the previous instance of the younger sister and the red-haired older sister, so I'm gonna skip that here.
So basically, Cosette's mother was the first wife but because of a misunderstanding, she was driven out because her husband is a strict lawful neutral. (Dude, you're really putting a bad name on us lawful neutrals.)
Kiera's mother is the second wife, whose family then sent assassins after the first wife, just to be safe. They were sent to ensure that the first wife couldn't give birth to the next Saintess, so that's why the Grandpa looks like he's hiding something.
The assassins probably failed since Cosette's mother was able to give birth, although to a stillborn. Grieving, Cosette's mother makes a deal with a demon to inhabit Cosette's body. This is what gives Cosette the ability to steal Kiera's powers before she can manifest them. The "Resonance" is when Cosette gives Kiera's powers back as a final laugh.
Okay, so there's some debate about Cosette's real gender since some people say that Cosette was actually born a boy and only became a girl because the demon transformed the body into a girl's.
I think the boy argument makes more sense because that would invalidate any claim the Cosette had to be a Saintess, still making Kiera the eldest daughter.
But we don't know how the Saintess power is inherited that well, so I guess the girl claim works out too. Girl Cosette dying as a stillborn may invalidate her claim to the Saintess powers since she had no chance to live anyways, passing the power on the current eldest living daughter, Kiera. We know that if you kill the Saintess, her powers don't get inherited, so maybe if she dies from unavoidable means such as being stillborn, it doesn't count?
Either way, Kiera gets the Saintess powers because the real Cosette was stillborn. The only reason why Kiera can't manifest her powers is that a demon inhabited Cosette's body and stole the Saint powers from Kiera.

There's no ML in the LN, it's just a feel-good learning how to love yourself story. Also, both Kiera and her younger brother cut their ties with their lawful neutral dad in the end.
