Mute just means you can't speak; doesn't mean you can't make sounds. You just can't say words.

Most mute people can make noises they just lack greater vocal precision. I highly doubt our MC knows any of that in this fantasy setting though. The premise is interesting but I am unsure of how they can keep it up.
