I Fell in Love, so I Tried Livestreaming. - Ch. 22 - Full Speed Ahead, Hunter

I actually don't know a lot about the culture(outside of MANY manga... obviously).. So, I've been curious.

In a culture where they literally teach you to respect your elders, talk formally/non-formally, basically all around as being "nice" .. How are they so embarrassed to say something as simple as a thank you or the most common one I've seen would be calling someone them by there not-family (first) name.

Ooh man, I really don't see the tomboy winning this harem. But I keep losing anyways, what's one more loss huh?
@codydub03 It's just mangaka having no idea how normal people converse.

@codydub03 @Darklight99 With how socially awkward these children are, you shouldnt expect them to do normal stuffs. That said, many people who can hold conversations cant thank properly as well.

Social anxiety and introversion trumps any culture. Expressing gratitude even when it's to be done out of politeness takes effort.

Calling a stranger or even an acquaintance by their given name when you know their family name can come off as being too familiar or even rude.

@kazu19 I wasn't really talking solely about this manga, I meant that in general you can see that mangaka are all so reliant on old tropes because they genuinely have no idea how normal people work. At one point I started to wonder whether it was just normal in Japan but then you learn that, the normal people are indeed normal. It's just socially awkward mangaka who learned about how normies behave through older manga and are now spreading it to new people through their own manga.

I will never understand people getting wound up and insulting fictional characters for stuff like "is that hard to express gratitude" instead of reserving hatred for people who deserve it like politicians

unless of course it's bespectacled twat Nina who redacted table-kun, she's a monster

@codydub03 I believe there is a difference between the 'Thank you' of a polite gratitude and the 'Thank you' of a MAIDEN IN LOVE! USAGIDON BEST GIRL!

But to be serious I feel its authors repeating the suppressed words/emotions due to pride/embarrassment/whatever gradually releasing themselves to show character/relationship development and as its an entertainment medium sometimes things are exaggerated. Ofc depending on life experiences some of these can feel completely unrealistic to people

Man i really like Jimi. But i know she's gonna lose because of first girl win rule
Feels bad man

How braindead do you have to be to slam your head into a table while standing upright?

If video game skills translated to real life, I would be a god of death. Move aside, Green Berets, it's time for a gamer moment.
