@Xeredge - Right? I think he was expecting her to push back on some points so he could gauge how difficult she might be, so when she agreed upfront, he was completely wrong-footed. And now that he's had a chance to see she's nowhere near living like a noble his "wife" should, he's pulling all the way over into the other lane to correct what he perceives is a slight to his honor. I think since he's also picked up on the fact that she's depressed (thanks, Mr. Butler), he's genuinely concerned that she might hurt herself.
