Eh, I still disagree, but to each their own. :) I will agree with you that writing a believable estranged family dynamic would be more difficult and potentially more interesting. I just don’t necessarily see it working with this story, but who knows?

I think the author is hinting at the underlying struggle that will become the main plot pretty soon, so I guess we’ll see!
