I think she wants to but she feels trapped because of Maryjun and what her a$$hole father will say if she displeases her. Plus the dumb prince showing up she really can’t say no to him and she’s always uncomfortable around all of them but do they notice? No because they are selfish.

In response to the guy who thinks the butler was trying to save Yulan from an awkward situation, the butler says "you know their tastes". He's referring to the idea that the women would prefer to be around Claudia rather than Yulan, something that really bothers Yulan and Violette unfortunately played into.

The difficult relationship thing makes me suspect he's just being nice to her to fuck with the prince. I really hope not, but apparently the tone of the original novel was darker, so that is not completely outrageous...

Well, the original novel had Violette going mad, bullying her half-sister and even attempting to kill her while basically being a stalker to Claudia, it was absolutely darker.

Heck, she says that no one went to visit her in prison while she basically made it so she died of hunger, so i assume Yulan got tired of being ignored, had found someone else or didn't want to date a bullying wannabe murderer, honestly, the new timeline is much better for everyone involved.
