(maybe even now going out with the supposed hero) wow honestly this mc is so much of a loser it hurts... even that bastard merchant who used and made constantly fun of him, caused him to waste 50 million what is probably a fucking big amount of money, and he still will help that bastard get rich on him...? Honestly, if the mc wasn't such a loser he would pledge vengeance against his so called party. (They would be nothing without him, the "hero" would long since died and the others would not even be half as strong as they are now or more realistically not even 1/8 because without him they would have never meet in the first place meaning bad teams slower growth many mishaps maybe they would at a early stage retire because it is simply that hard.)
But you jokes of readers would then go on about "edgy edgy" when someone doesn't act like a total hetare loser swallowing every shit they throw at him.

All depends on the system used and whatnot.
Not that I'm saying I know how his is useful/'better' for this setting, but the biggest factor is probably using a different base system.
Or it could have a specialized use and even be uncommon in this universe.

It's been like a decade but I once did a detailed paper on their usage in the past and looked into differences between various regions/times/cultures/etc.
