I thought they'd reveal they had some history together, but the guy clearly knows nothing about her and she is some kind of stalker who is super aware of him. And the whole "I'm a lone wolf because no one but MC can work with me" when she has a super friendly personality, seems to be upright, understands other's strengths and weaknesses and is willing to work around them to be with someone she values? What exactly makes her difficult to be with?

The more I see the trope, the more I'm annoyed by passive MCs who don't defend themselves and rely on "good" people who magically understand their true worth even when they make no effort to appeal to anyone. The author just splits the world between "good" people who inexplicably like the MC, and "bad" people who make fun of him for no reason.
