I think the amount he got for his swords is fair because MC point blank doesn't have access the trade network Gyaru waifu does. Not only can her name vouch for the quality of his goods but it can also find a buyer for them. Being smart or not has nothing to do with it. Mercantilism is all about connections and 'trust'. She's already a merchant, so she has the ability to sell his stuff for him, and since she knows him personally, she won't treat him unfairly to maximize her profits while screwing him over as is normal for merchant-work. She'll get her cut and do everything she can to make him rich - because that way he'll STAY with her since she gets him everything he wants in exchange for an exclusive contract. Win-win, her business and rep goes up for selling his stuff, he gets lots of money for using her skills and contacts - more than he could ever get on his own.

What's not to love about this setup? Also, he doesn't have time to sell stuff himself, he's busy being an MC and producing stuff.
