@Turkeyjerkey The linguistics are a bit slippery, but basically no, they aren't. The term "ape" is normally used for a particular group of tailless hominoids which are closely related to but distinct from the critters referred to by the word "monkeys". An orangutan is an ape, not a monkey. A macaque is a monkey, not an ape.
