Imagine trying to backup a game server, which usually has, let's use a conservative estimate, 100 or so terabytes of data; although discarding all player data and old logs may get that down to a few terabytes, there's now the issue of "how large are the evolved consciousnesses of the NPCs?"

e: me, 4 months later, suggests a 100 terabytes guess is absurd for the amount of NPCs I see in the world; maybe 30 would be a better estimate, factoring in image assets, audio, sensory data, and AI.
