Ihoujin, Dungeon ni Moguru - Ch. 3 - Goodbye, my guns.

@criver The number of people that know he has guns is very slim. And even if people came after him and see he doesn't have them the worst possible out come is they kill him and leave. However if he does have guns the worst possible outcome is they kill him and take the guns. And remember the MC is going to be dungeon clearing, likely working with parties and likely encountering other parties in the dungeon, so if he's using the gun people will find out.

And the reason for the 'flex' with the explosions was to push the situation. He had to prove that the goods were his, and the only way he could really do that was by showing he had previous contact with the goods, so remotely detonating them (the only thing he could do that was already set up before they were stolen) was his best option. Otherwise not only would his stuff be lost, but he'd get nothing back for it. At least after blowing it up he can force them to compensate it cause they stole it.

I wonder about his other teammates and their guns after ditching their overseers (machina units full of bullet holes).

Throwing away / Hiding them underwater would probably keep him alive when those teammates run out of bullets and go looking for him / each other.

The part about the mermaid and the cost of using the orb was pretty confusing, so I had to go look up the novel version to see if it made any more sense there, but I'm not sure if it made any more sense.
In the novel version, it mentions that after the orb was broken, the guy had lost his memories. Apparently, in order to give her legs, it took away their love for each other, including memories, and then once it was broken the memories while under the influence were gone? Not very clear.

@criver
My dude if you think bullets the only thing that would keep him from using a gun then you're very much mistaken. even if he kept the gun what's to stop people from ambushing and stealing it?
In the chapter he literally say's
I'll scrap all the guns, I might be able to maintain a single weapon, HOWEVER I can't protect its technology. After all it is as you said, it might spark a war
also
What's this illogical argument? You'll run out of ammo eventually, so why not throw your gun away? Like, hello? What? How about throwing the gun away AFTER you run out of ammo? I bet that whatever bs the MC does you will still try to justify it.
How is it illogical? what's more illogical is that you think you only need bullets to keep with up a gun, if its not cleaned and maintained regularly with the right tools it's useless. Also what the MC did wasn't b.s, it was LOGICAL. He saw the danger of carrying it everywhere and made a decision.

I enjoyed this chapter.
The MC appears to have a plan, thinks of things rationally, and plans ahead. I'm iffy on whether or not he should have trusted that merfolk to drag that container to the bottom, though.

Ah, and of course, I don't really want the MC to be an emotionless android.. hopefully in later chapters he will show some emotion while retaining his ability to think of things logically.

@akomni I think he will. If that cover page showed us anything, he probably makes some friends or companions in a party

But, the MC isn't the only person sent from the earth through the portal in the beginning right? Heck, he was supposed to come with his entire platoon if i remember right. Which means it could very well be that the knowledge of the higher war-potential technologies from earth is already known by some.

@haremmony afaik the bot said that either none of the platoon came with or that it couldn't detect them anywhere in range. If they were teleported into random places, at the very least he doesn't want THIS country to develop future war tech or at least, reducing its widespread.

Ehhh... so, for love, she stole the orb, gave up her love for legs, to be together with her love? Right... 😪 I'll just leave it as her being a genius.

I don't quite get the deal with the Merman's grandaughter.

I get she stole the orb, paid something (their love?) so she get legs. But what the deal with the merman, where he has to pay 4000 gold?

6 days? dude has been hallucinating this whole chapter then. shadow people got him, he had the gear the whole time just paranoid lmao

I see all these people arguing about the MC's reasoning for throwing the guns away and stuff and how it is justified or how it is not. I'm not sure if it's the LN changed things or a potential mistranslated (or interpretation) but if all these people want to know about what happened and his reasons for doing stuff, read the translated WN. It explains in more detail the reasons behind his actions and deductions (like how he figured out Geto (fish dude) betrayed him and why he is still worthy of trust). For now the LN seems to be following the WN so it should still provide a good explanation and details that were cut out in the manga.

What had happened with the mermaid was that she started hanging with the wrong crowd then blackmailed her own father in order to betray the guy with the guns. It is a very common thing in Asia actually when teens would say that they were kidnapped and demanded money from their own parents.
