Ikoku Nikki - Vol. 5 Ch. 22 - page.22

Ooooooooohhh... well...damn she heard. But I think Makio's train of thought is the right one, she should tell her like "hey, there's this diary of your mom, I'm sorry I read it but it looks like she wanted to give it to you when your turn 20... so please think about it".

But the fact that she never thought of dying so soon or that she wouldn't be around when Asa turns 20 is something that probably I wouldn't have connected, so it might be harmful, the content you know?

Also damn, Daigo san really made me laugh with her brutal honesty xD no doubt, Yamashita Tomoko is an excellent writer, is like she's watching the event unfolds instead of making it up in her mind, you know? it feels real.

Thanks for the many updates lately!! I'm enjoying this a lot

Bahaha, Daigo! Her roasting Makio and Kasamachi at the same time is hilarious.

Oop, Asa overheard. At this point her decision of what to do with the journal might force her to confront some stuff she's still trying to process.

This manga can swing so quick between amusing banter and deeply profound statements. I really loved the lines: “writing is a very lonely practice” and “inside that diary, her mom is alive.”thank you for the scanlation!

The correct answer, of course, is to tell Asa.

"Hey there's this diary your mum wrote and she wanted to give it to you when you turned 20. But considering the situation, do you want it now? Or do you want to wait?"

Claiming that a friend of yours can only really be loved by someone who is into weird people is a pretty shitty thing to say.

@Pyoro On the contrary, I think she's saying that because they have known each other for so long and are so close. Like how you can talk shit about your friend and know your friend would be okay with it (and do it to you later).

@Nixnaw I get that idea, and I also understand she was basically trying to encourage the guy, but saying it to a 3rd party I think is still shitty. Especially since she should know that Makio doesn't deal too well with that sort of accusation; basically half her trauma is from her sister telling her how "weird" she is. I don't think this was appropriate, and to me there's a certain contempt in saying this sort of thing about someone behind their back.
