I was having similar thoughts when Emiri brought up the "it was sexist then, and it's sexist now" line. Manga is so rife with escapist fantasies that a story like this one, which challenges society's more insidious prejudices, is a rare and welcome find. It doesn't have many chapters uploaded on this site yet, but I would recommend Mystery to Iunakare as another story that's boldly touched upon some of those topics you've mentioned, and holds promise to continue doing so.

okay, this is a small detail, but i think it encompasses just why this manga is 10/10: the typo in the text messages with "red /*read" - it's so true to life, and feels like an honest depiction of humans interacting, not these sugary implausible fantasy relationships in like 99.9% of everything else

@Scruffy I definitely agree with you about Emiri having a crush on Makio, but I'm fairly certain that the last phone screen panel is Emiri telling Asa she's going to bed not Makio. The pattern on the shirt in that panel matches Asa's
I could be wrong but I hope not! Honestly I think if Makio was the one replying while having this convo with Asa it would reflect really badly on her
