I'm Not a Villainess!! Just Because I Can Control Darkness Doesn't Mean I'm a Bad Person! - Vol. 2 Ch. 13

Ah such a shame it couldn't just end with the confession and a quick flashforward to happy family life

Maybe the mangaka could have reached a middle point by making her skin a touch lighter? That way she could have remained choco and, we could have had an in-universe explanation as to why she's treated differently.

And please, stop bitching about this. It's kind of tiring to see both sides go "REEEEEE" every chapter or so.

I was so confused. I was thinking of last boss 99 and wondering why she was suddenly in love with the prince

@Javra17 Quite a few readers said keep her choco, but give her a lighter hair colour or something. Personally I would've enjoyed if she had a streak or two of blonde hair (or maybe let's go full Gyaru :3), would look kind of nice.

Honestly this would have been a fine place to end the series and I would have felt satisfied with it. Hopefully it just continues to get better from here tho!

@slayerdart I think at this point after seeing everyone comment about how twitter is destroying everything, I feel the need to clarify that my use of "twitter mob" wasn't necessarily meant to say this all went down on twitter. I just used it as a pejorative so people instantly understood what I was referring to. Same type of people though but if I recall correctly, the outrage occurred on the publishers website.

Quite idiotic from a purely plot point of view to keep her skin darker just to make a political message, but ok

indeed it could have end on an happy not, but. It seems. That you understimate the power of DRAMA!

Her confession would have been cuter and more relatable if she simply explained her feelings in the way she answered the two girls;
“I feel excited/happy when I see you and painful maybe jealous when I see you with another girl, I think I like you too prince Levi”
Instead she just jumped straight to love despite the fact she doesn’t really understand that feeling yet, especially with her upbringing.

I still enjoy this tho, just felt the confession went from 10 to 100 when it didn’t need to.

I think the cooler way for her change is to give her hair a stroke of white, kinda like shinigami boy in Soul Eater.

I like when she changed and I know I’ve read that part in the light novel, I wonder why they suddenly decided to change it?

Thank you!

Lol, y'all's note is so true. Last page wasn't needed, totally could have ended there and likely should have. Feels like the main story and the main problems are done/resolved

I remember reading the skin color change in the WN translation and feeling like they really didn't do enough with it to justify putting it in. They used it to point out the shallowness of the nobles, but they never pushed back on the idea that the skin lightening was somehow her being 'fixed'. Swapping it back doesn't change much, as you can put in "she's a hero" for all the attitude changes. Which kinda goes to show how weak that plot point was in the source text.

Here's hoping this last bit of story isn't as flat as I fear it will be.
