She's already going into town and back that way. If the country wants to get rid of her, they can go fuck themselves really. This is such a massive plot hole to me and makes no sense why she wouldn't even think about simply "running away". She doesn't owe a kingdom that only mistreat her, anything.

@TetraSky - true - but how old was she when she was killed? 12 to 16, right? Not quite the age of reason, and she's been so focused on the potential for her fate to be tied to the story she knows that she basically has tunnel vision on it. I'm more surprised that Gerald doesn't suggest that solution, since he only cares about her. Matter of fact, if he doesn't, I'm going to assume his own vision is narrowed to that of his master's.

@TheDragonLord That's the Queen, yes the royalty cares more about her well being than her actual parents. While the whole discussion is happening her mother is cooped up in her room.
You say that her mother was "programed" to act a certain way to her due to society, but there's actual examples of people who treated her more kindly than their parents. Even the butler is a better parental figure than her actual parents, he actually scolds her when she does something dangerous.

@Nep, That's still not a good excuse. Sending your daughter to war? sure...

she actually become a hero, but if that's the reasoning might as well kill her when she's a child so she wouldn't suffer.
And yes the scene with the mother trying to reconcile is painted waay lighter than it's supposed to be. The MC still agrees to small talk, and even says about how she would hate her mother if she changed her demeanor (which she does, i mean c'mon she suddenly talks to her AFTER she was regarded as hero and gained the Light Spirit King's blessing). It's all because, despite the fact that her mother is the worst of the both, the MC she still sees her as her mother, so the MC more willing to "compromise".
