I'm the Grand Duke's Consort Candidate, However, I Believe I Can Certainly Surpass It! - Vol. 1 Ch. 2.1

I kinda hope we don't get the cliche "she is actually the future queen" reveal and she becomes a court lady married to Jade but I know it's highly unlikely.

jade must be Iike "im gIad i got a ruraI adventurous nobIe instead the usuaI pain in the ass nobIes"

The ring is definitely going to pick her because she's so selfless. I hope she ends up with Jade instead though.

@sherrynity I...hadn't considered that. That would make all the flags she's building with him click, though it doesn't make sense why he'd be the one to bring the letter to her home.

I'm into this though, because as far as queen candidates go, she's passing with flying colors in everything except love for the prince and possibly socializing. She sees herself as selfish, but she's considerate of others, has a powerful work ethic, and above all cares deeply for "her people", whoever that may entail.

@Psychronia it's actually a plot often repeated in many novels.

The royal family members need to experience how it feels to be their vassal before they're allowed to govern them. They usually thrown into the military, given the task to climb up the ladder from scratch without their family's backing.

As this guy has reached knighthood, I think the royal family decided he's ready to reclaim his position as a royal prince.

@ksen **high-five**

I feel it would be a pleasant surprise if Jade didn't turn out to be the prince and Teresse still gets together with him instead of the prince.

On a side note: It would the quite unfair to the other noble ladies, if Jade is the prince... It's pretty much impossible to not get any kind of emotions for a person you are with all the time, and the ring does take the wearers preferences into account.

@sherrynity : He shouldn't be, otherwise that short scene with his knight buddy (both going to report to the prince) would be really weird.

I think this series is going for the 'court lady who's more competent than the queen' setup
Like, maybe the queen will turn out to be terrible at running the country, but is legitimately a good morale support for the prince.
So the queen will be left alone to enjoy her days leisurely, and spend time 'healing' the prince after his works.
Teresse would be enjoying running the country, and Jade might go up the promotion ladder until the two become the 'sword and shield' of the country kind of pair.
One protecting the country internally, ensuring the citizens do not suffer, while the other protect the country from foreign foes.

Though even with that route it can still ends with her being such a workaholic that Jade's feelings never get through and he can only sigh while making a shrug and go along with her pace.
