@bvdaf Blood can stain wood and stone, so he's either staining the carpet or staining the ground itself. At least with the carpet a good washing is all that's required, stained wood and stone will need to be replaced since I doubt they have the kinds of cleaning solutions we do.
Goblin Is Very Strong has a similar premise where one has to pay a fee for revival, and if one's broke, well... That one's a tad harsher though as someone has to bring the coffins back...
holy shit now i feel sorry for a priest in dragon quest game!
most be hard for them to clean the blood any time a dead body shows up in front of them D:
I'm kind of amazed that everyone fell hook line and sinker for the idea that cleaning up bloodstains and being overworked is more traumatic than repeated gruesome deaths and being stuck in a constant state of war. If he's gonna start charging them for revivals then they're gonna have to start charging people for services too.
@RamenRider I’m pretty sure they are charging people for their services (thus the tab and the “work your butt off adventuring”). If not, then they really should start charging people if they keep dying. The system is beyond broken if the heroes keep going to battle to die and the priest has to revive them (and single handily maintain the church), and no one is getting pay or compensation. To be honest if I were the priest and had such a god tier ability that no one else does, I would charge a lot more for revivals.
@TNT261
If that was true then the cleric could/would be complaining to whatever governing body oversees heroes for restitution. Adventuring is it's own job. All adventurers are not heroes. Ergo if the hero has to do adventuring as a source of income (and to afford the revivals), then they're being forced to take up second jobs just to make ends meet for their dogmatically mandated career.
As a d&d cleric player I know the feeling.. patching these idiots up who keep getting themselves killed. That cursed sword is not going to let you wield it no matter how many times you try...
@RamenRider I think of it more like the story is showing what the priests that revive the heroes have to go through so as to try and appreciate them more. After all, if Katarina is anything to go by then most heroes take priests like him for granted. Sure, dying is far worse as is being in a constant state of war, but it'll get aggravating fast if you keep having to revive the same heroes over and over because they don't learn from their mistakes or are constantly being reckless for no reason. Even worse if you're on your own, which seems to be the case for Julius. The mess aside, he has to see the mutilated bodies of everyone that dies, and I'm sure that's not a pleasant sight to see for anyone and might even be nightmare inducing for some.
Also, Katarina, a newbie hero, was unperturbed by the fact that she died, so clearly dying a gruesome death isn't as much of an issue in this scenario.
