Last chapter I'd thought they were a racist vigilante "border-patrol", which was... alas, 100% believable. Right sort of location, right amateurishness, and the right sort of casual lethal sadism.
...I should have known my expectations for cultural comprehension and believablility were way too high. What sort of absurd crime spree is this supposed to be? XD Also, though truckers come in many shapes and stripes, 'muirican truckers as a group are an overly-high-testoserone'd and frequently gun-totin' folk... These folks would be quite dead already. >_>;
Like I'm not even really pro-gun; the Highway Patrol are as much the reason why we don't have highway robbery. But like, as a practical matter, for this sort of unusual situation, even if as a plot-weasel you assumed the over-heavily-armed police somehow hadn't caught on yet...
But instead, "their firepower is more fierce than the police". Author baby, dear, you would not write that if you knew anything about the goddamn police in the U.S. of A. Holee-shit XD I guess the highwaymen got tanks and jets then? But can't drive semi-trucks apparently. Either way I think the Army would have a word.
