In This Corner of the World - Vol. 3 Ch. 45 - A Letter of Happiness (January, 1946)

One of those beautiful works where you cry, and cry, and cry, and somehow wind up still feeling happy you read it.
 
It is refreshing to read civilian protagonists and not the emperor/ princess or someone with MC halo. This is realistic, something my ex-soldier grandpa always told his grandchildren. This is a great gem. Bittersweet story.
