@impendio While I won't disagree with the fact that these kind of things are way easier to be published in Japan compared to US, US comics aren't as sanitised as you think. Read up the weird shit they have had in them, you'd be surprised.

Ms. Marvel was once raped and then gave birth to the guy who raped her, yes the same Carol Danvers who just started in a billion dollar movie.

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch used to be in an incestous relationship.

Hulk fucked and had an entire inbred family with his first cousin She-Hulk, we don't see her in the comic and therefore don't know whether it was consensual, probably wasn't.

Norman Osborne fucked and had twins with Peter Parker's girlfriend Gwen Stacy, and then brainwashed those kids into thinking that Peter was their father and he killed Gwen and send them into getting revenge for their mother.

And many many more. I have barely scratched the surface of the insanity of western comics.

@impendio America has always been pro-violence and anti-sex while Japan is the opposite.
Japan might not seem anti-violence, but their stuff generally tends to be way tamer, and even edgier stuff tends to be pretty out of touch with how violence in reality actually is. America is also more pro towards casual sex while it's a big no-no for otaku culture.
