This stupid teacher was originally strongly opposed to joining the natives, and now he is using it as reassurance. At this rate the moron is going to fall into the role entirely and end up fucking them.
Starting to think the teacher is the worst character. He whines about everything but ends up using it 2 minutes later when it becomes convenient.

@The5thSeraph I don't quite think that's what's going on. He is really stupid, he doesn't know when he's supposed to tell white lies, like when he almost bungles his "wives" earlier, but now he's using his position to reassure them that even according to these weird ass natives, they're basically safe, which I would say is the right call but it's weird he can nuance his way around that but refused to call them his wives when it would save their lives.

He's just inconsistent, either as a result of being kind of stupid or writer issues.
