At first I also thought that their soul/consciousness got switched.
But it looks like Mari got a copy Isao's consciousness.
So where is the Mari's soul or consciousness?
Or was Mari (inside Isao's body) lying?

Theory: Mari got tired of her suffocating daily life so when she woke up in Isao's body, she felt extreme freedom so she doesnt wanna go back into her original body anymore. That would explain why Isao ignored Mari (true Isao inside) even though it was implied that Isao have a stalker-ish crush with Mari.

Ohhh-kay. Now this was a departure from the usual body-swap trope. Hmm.

"Isao" really doesn't have any people skills. No wonder "he" blew this.
