Hmm. In my opinion, relationships that start during high school are not a very good idea. You still have growing up to do, your circumstances in life will change, it's almost like the relationship is doomed to fail. There are some exceptions but it rarely works out. It's better to wait to date while everything in your and your partner's life is more stable. Though in this case it was doomed to fail since the guy is a jerk
Also in my unpopular opinion, I think if people date without marriage in mind then it's only a matter of time when they'll break up. Even if you've been dating for 7 years, you can quit anytime. Since there's nothing legally holding you back, it becomes an easy impulse decision.
