Everytime I see puppets and hear how they were used to win the greatest wars in the past, I just think that if the current governments and industries weren't so corrupt, that they could just keep using them instead of creating "angels". It's probably only "expensive" to make puppets because the people in charge are cheap, greedy, and lazy. Technological advances such as AI assistance and automation would probably make it easy for humans to just mechanize and automate everything including warfare. The only reason they wouldn't is because of greed and the desire for artificial scarcity or population control.

I mean, think about it: get rid of women by killing them off in battle, and it each one is another potential mother that can't have a child. A few men can impregnate a lot of women, but to have children (the natural way at least) the bottleneck is that you need a woman to carry a child, 1 at a time, and it takes 9 months. I would not be shocked to find out that the angel system is totally unnecessary, but used to keep the population under control.
