@degenerateafro @Nk9bjP4A Just looking at the mage situation, it's pretty clear brain cells and competence has not been distributed evenly across this land. Or even information? Plus this seems like a segue into the larger conspiracy since it also has ties to a prominent mage and that in order to circumvent any possible corruption they used Will's royal connections to go straight to top, implying that anything less was too high a risk. This noble's probably just a mook in the grand scheme, the kind of character that was born suckling on the idiot ball.
